The use of dedicated blocker vehicles on high speed roadways is an emerging trend in the fire service. Each year dozens of emergency responders are killed and many more seriously injured as a result of struck-by incidents. Many civilian fatalities also occur each as a result of motorists striking stationary emergency vehicles operating at roadway incident scenes.

In addition to protecting emergency responders, the Florian TMA is built to provide quality advanced warning and direction to approaching motorists. The truck mounted attenuator also offers protection to occupants of an errand vehicle, in the event of an impact. The Florian TMA provides departments to effectively provide emergency responders a safe work area within temporary traffic control zones, without tasking their most valuable frontline suppression units for blocking assignments.
